Bruce J Graham, the pioneering architect who designed America's tallest skyscraper, in Chicago, has died at the age of 84.
Mr Graham died on Saturday at his home in Hobe Sound, Florida, from complications associated with Alzheimer's disease, said Chicago-based public relations firm SCC Grossman.
The 110-storey Sears Tower, renamed the Willis Tower last year, opened in 1974 and was the world's tallest building until the Petronas Twin Towers opened in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 1996.
The Chicago tower remains the tallest in the US. Mr Graham also designed Chicago's 100-story John Hancock Centre.
