Carreras and Ball to headline at festival
RENOWNED TENOR PERFORMS IN KILLRUDDERY
THE INAUGURAL Killruddery Festival promises to be the event of the year with legendary artists Jose Carreras and Michael Ball headlining. With such interest already in the festival in addition to securing two world renowned and critically acclaimed singers, the organisers plan to make the festival an annual event showcasing artists across all music genres each August.
Jose Carreras will perform in Killruddery on Saturday night, August 28. His place in the music annuals is secure and is perhaps best known for being one of the Three Tenors along with Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti.
Jose meteoric musical career saw him perform in the world's most prestigious opera theatres and festivals including the New York Metropolitan Opera House and London's Royal Opera House. He has collaborated with the most renowned orchestra conductors and his repertoire includes over 60 operas. In addition he has performed the leading role in several operatic films of television, cinema and video.
He has given frequent recitals in the world's most famous halls and to have him perform locally in Killruddery is a great coup. His wide concert repertoire includes over 600 titles of the most diverse styles ranging from the baroque to contemporary music.
Michael Ball will perform on Sunday, August 29 and again this promises to be a super concert. He is arguably Britain's leading musical theatre star and has also won critical acclaim for his numerous performances on stage, film and television. His solo recording career has also had great success seeing him top the charts several times. He also hosts his hugely success BBC Radio 2 show – Michael Ball's Sunday Brunch.
His West End credits include Marius in Les Miserables, Raoul in Phantom of the Opera, Alex in Aspects of Love, Giorgio in Passion and his award winning Count Fosco in Woman in White. He most recently won an Olivier Award for his performance as Enda Turnblad in the smash West End production of Hairspray.
The concerts will take place in the intimate and ambient open air gardens of Killruddery House. Visitors to the festival can enjoy picnics which are purchased on site in the stunning gardens and explore the ground.
