Gleeson and Cheadle take time out to visit lifeboat volunteers

Wednesday December 09 2009

BRENDAN GLEESON and American actor Don Cheadle took time out from filming scenes for the new movie 'The Guard' on Wednesday night to drop in and say hello to Wicklow RNLI Lifeboat volunteers.

While being given a tour of the Station, Brendan Gleeson told of the time he spent in Wales filming a BBC Drama called 'The Lifeboat ' in the 1980s when he played the part of a RNLI lifeboat volunteer.

Tommy Dover, Wicklow volunteer lifeboat press officer said, 'The two actors were filming beside the lifeboat station and we invited them in to look around. They were very friendly and happily posed for photos with the lifeboat crew. We took great pride in showing them the lifeboat station.'

The actors finished the tour by signing the visitors book before returning to the set. The production company behind 'The Guard' has agreed to make a charitable contribution to Wicklow RNLI as a gesture of appreciation for helping them film in the area.
