THE ST. PATRICK'S GAA club had a fantastic evening last Friday when Boys and Girls from Under 7s to Under 18s were presented with their championship and league medals plus certificates at a function held in the clubhouse.
Guests of honour was Tipperary Senior Hurler Benny Dunne, who arrived with the Munster Senior Hurling Championship cup offering a great photo attraction for children and adults alike.
Representing the Wicklow County Board were P.R.O. Pat Mitchell and St. Pat's very own Michael Murphy the County Runai.
The club's county players, Paul Earls and Patrick McWalter, came along to present the football medals to the winning under 14 team, who won their own 'Grand Slam' in 2009 by winning the A County Championship, U-14 County Feile and Division 1 North East Board Football League.
In addition, they presented the U-11 football team with their North/East League Division 2 winner medals and Division 3 county championship runnerup medals for 2009.
Pat Mitchell, Paul and Paudge then presented winning and runner up medals to the various girls teams. Both Pat Mitchell and Benny Dunne addressed the boys, girls and parents present, both encouraging all the boys and girls to continue playing and enjoying our national games.
The Minor hurling team were presented with their winning championship medals by Benny Dunne and in his address he spoke of the commitment, sacrifice and effort needed to get to the top. He stated that he would rather be out in the field doing a session with a team, than talking in a hall, and offered to return during the season to do a training session with the hurling teams.
The full roll of honour on the night was; Boys U-12 Football North/East League Winners Div. 2; Boys U-12 Football All County Div.3 Championship runners up.
Girls U-12 Football County Shield winners; Boys U-14 Football County A Championship winners, County A Feile Cup winners, North East League Winners Div. 1; Girls U-14 Football County A Championship runners up; Girls U-16 Football County A Shield runners up; Boys U-18 Hurling Minor 'B' Hurling Championship winners; Girls U-18 Football Minor A Football Championship.
