GYMKHANA
Don't forget to keep Sunday August 16 free for the biggest event of the Johnstown/ Coolgreany Calendar year, when the local Gymkhana will take place at Coolgreany.
There will be all the usual events including old time threshing, vintage display, show jumping, and a special arena for the young children, with many great prizes and a number of cups to be won.
Again this year there will be a big dog show, bouncy castle and the usual sports day and side events, and a large variety of home produce stalls etc.
The Big Raffle will take place in the afternoon also, so if you really want a good day out then go along to the Coolgreany Gymkhana on August 16.
KILCARRA GRAVEYARD
The annual Blessing of the Graves will take place at Kilcarra Graveyard tomorrow, Thursday August 6 at 7 p.m., when it is hoped they will have a fine evening and a large turnout.
BALLYCOOGUE GRAVES
The Blessing of the Graves will take place at St. Kevin's, Ballycoogue on Sunday August 9 with Mass at 7 p.m.
Afterwards Ballycoogue I.C.A will hold a cake sale in the local hall where tea and coffee and beautiful home made cakes will be served.
All of the funds raised are going towards the Ballycoogue Senior Citizens Fund for their annual Christmas Party.
DANCING
Ballroom dancing will return to the Coolgreany Inn this Friday night August 7 when you will have the opportunity to enjoy some of the old time dancing of the 60's, 70's and 80's to the music of John Cooper and Fernando.
WEDDING
Congratulations to Gail Jameson, daughter of Ann Jameson, Coolinastingan, and Jonathan Redmond, son of Johnny and Margaret Redmond, Main Street, Gorey who were married in St. David's Church, Johnstown last Thursday. The couple held their reception in the Ferrycarrig Hotel, Wexford.
BIRTHDAYS
Congratulations to Lorraine Bolger, Glenview who celebrated her birthday yesterday, August 4.
Also birthday wishes to Sadie Moorehouse, Thomastown who celebrates her birthday next Saturday August 8 and Mary Ann Nuzum who celebrates her 13th birthdaynext Saturday also.
CASTLETOWN DANCE
Castletown Parish are holding a Parish Dance in the Golden Anchor lounge in Castletown tonight (Wednesday), August 5, with music by Fernando. It should be a great night for only €5 admission, so do go along and support the parish.
TALENT COMPETITION
A Committee is organising a local 'Coolgreany's Got Talent' competition in the Coolgreany Inn on Friday night, August 21. Keep this date free for a great night of local entertainment.
TWINS BIRTHDAY
Congratulations to Kelley and Keith O'Rafferty who celebrated their birthday yesterday, August 4.
HANDBALL
Next Saturday evening, August 8, Martina Walsh will play Ann Marie Fitzgerald in the All Ireland Junior Handball semi-final in Tuamgraney, Co. Clare at 6 p.m.
On Sunday August 9 Darren O'Toole and David Redmond, Templeudigan will play Sean and Thomas O'Neill, Cork in the All Ireland Junior B semifinal. This game will take place at the St Mary's club in Wexford at 2 p.m.
FIELD DAY THANKS
The Organising Committee of the Ballyfad Field Day would like to thank all who helped to make the day a great success. A big thanks to those who donated prizes for the raffle and various stalls.
