GOOD WISHES

The local community extend their good wishes to our local postmistress Nora Finn, Newtown, Coolgreany, who was recently ill.

SOCCER

Coolgreany Celtic had a very easy and clear cut 8-0 win over Crossabeg in the Billy Browne Cup last Sunday, with the Celtic goals coming from John Crowe (2), Paddy Bergin, Gavin O'Toole, Darren O'Toole, and Jimmy O'Rourke all getting 1 each, and then Man of the Match Greg O'Rourke scored 2 goals after giving an outstanding display for Celtic.

Celtic Ladies had a very clear 3-1 win over New Ross Celtic in their league game played on last Sunday. Again this was a very positive team performance, with Roísín O'Donohoe scoring 2 goals, and Sarah Merrigan scoring a very well taken penalty, this was an excellent result from a full squad of Celtic players.

HANDBALL

Well done to Martina Walsh who had a very good 2 games to 1 win over Una Wrynne, Kildare in the Leinster Ladies Championship. Well done also to Sarah Merrigan who had a clear 2 games to nil win over Susan Kehoe Dublin, while Tanya O'Toole lost out to Maria Walsh, Kilkenny by 2 games to nil.

Well done also to Darren O'Toole who had a very easy 2 games to nil win over Anthony O'Sullivan, Dublin. Unfortunately Damian Kelly lost out to Danny O'Reilly, Dublin in two straight games. Both of those games were in the Leinster Championships.

Next Thursday night in Borris, Co. Carlow, Martina Walsh and Tanya O'Toole will play Rachel Hogan and Maria Walsh, Kilkenny also in the Leinster Ladies Championship.

In the Co. Championship Ned Connors beat Frank Maddock, St. Martins in 2 straight games, and a game being played in Davidstown between Damian Kelly and Owen Leacy had to called off when the floor of the alley became to wet, with Damian leading by 1 game to nil.

Coolgreany Handball Club extend sincere sympathy to Tom Doyle, Gorey on the death of his mother whose burial took place on last weekend.
