FR. OWEN FAREWELL NIGHT

As all parishioners in the area know at this stage, Fr. Owen departed our shores for a year long Sabbatical in San Francisco on Monday (30th). Members of the parish (and also surrounding Parish's) attended a final Farewell Night in the Glenview Hotel last Friday evening where a large crowd gathered to say a fond farewell after his 10 years in our parish.

Farewell Fr. Owen, we hope you come back ready to face your new challenge and don't forget us all here in Kilmacanogue. Fr. Pierce Walsh will take over in mid September. ANOTHER FAREWELL

This week saw another friend leave the village of Kilmacanogue. Yudish Bashwanfingh has proven to be a very popular member of staff in the Esso garage in Kilmacanogue over the past three years but he has decided to return to his home in Mauritius and both work colleagues and customers would like to wish him a fond farewell and good luck in the future. SOCCER

The Glencormac United senior team played their first match of the season last Sunday away to Aughrim and the campaign got off in a disappointing manner after a 2-1 defeat.

However, it was great two see two of the clubs best players returning to action after long injury lay-offs as Kevin Redden (Goalscorer) and keeper Shane Vickers both starring on the day. The seniors face St. Anthony's at home this Sunday while the Youths are away to the same opposition on Saturday. Support for both fixtures would be welcomed. GAA ACTION

The Junior A team were in Championship action last Sunday against Eire Og and staged a great second half rally to record a 5 point win, 2-10 to 0-11. The first half was a tight affair with the lead exchanging hands and Eire Og went into the break with a one point lead (0-6 to 05).

However, selector Greg O'Donnell must have gave the team some of that Kerry Spring water at half time and although Eire Og hit two early points, Craig O'Neill and Stephen Morgan started to take over at midfield while Kevin Redden was appearing all over the pitch and Kilmacanogue were clawing their way back with points. Then, Andrew Molloy struck with two great goals in 5 minutes (the second a majestic strike according to Andrew) and there was no way back for the opposition.

This vital win keeps Kilmacanogue's slim hopes alive and they still need a few results to go their way but all the lads can do is keep winning as they did in style last Sunday night. SPONSOR A SOD

The Sponsor A Sod, Your club, Our history, be part of it campaign has been a bit slow and disappointing on take up and now only has a few more weeks to run. People purchasing online are kindly asked to send an e-mail to pro@kilmacgaa.com so we can ensure the correct name will appear on our wall).

The cost of a sod is €50. For this, the purchaser will get their name permanently and professionally displayed on the walls of the dressing rooms. You will also receive a certificate from the club that can be kept at home as a reminder of your involvement with the club.

Money raised from this campaign will go towards developing the facilities so members of the community and club can continue to get the best possible training and enjoyment from the club.

This campaign will be ending in September so do not miss your chance ! NEWS ITEMS
