Two wins from three games for our teams last weekend. The youths suffered a 5-2 defeat at home to the hands of Wicklow Town.
Shane Mooney and Ryan O'Connor scored the Newtown goals. Conor Eccelston scored direct from a corner kick to give the second team the lead at home to Roundwood, but the visitors restored parity late in the second half. When it looked like a draw was on the cards Terry Murphy popped up with a last minute winner to give the second team all three points.
The first team took their place in the Charlie Bishop Cup semi finals after a hard fought 5-4 win after extra time away to Wolfe Tone Celtic. Ross Odlum scored three goals and goals from Neil Martin and Cathal McNicholas completed the scoring.
