SOCCER
Our U17's competed in the final of the Wicklow/wexford league final last Friday. They beat Colaiste Craobh Abhann from Kilcoole 2 nil in an exciting finish to the competition. The goal scorers were Dylan Barnett and Barry Gleeson. Many thanks to Mr. O'donovan for all the hard work and commitment he has given to the team over the year. Congratulations to all.
RUGBY
This week saw the Seniors take to the pitch in the first round of the Leinster Schools Cup competition. In a very exciting and nail biting finish Pres emerged the victors with a 12 - 10 win over Newbridge College, Co. Kildare. Pres were leading by 9 points to 5 with 3 minutes to go when Newbridge crossed the line for a 5 point try 10 - 9. Newbridge failed to convert and the match was restarted with Pres being awarded a penalty kick in the dying seconds of injury time. The kick was taken superbly by Diarmuid Masterson to take the game. They now await the outcome of the St. Michael's/roscrea replay to see who they face next. This next round will be on the 28th February in Donnybrook.
The Junior team kick off their participation in the Leinster Schools Junior Cup next week against Wesley College. K.O. at 2.30p.m. in De La Salle/palmerston grounds in Kilternan. Good luck to Mr. Conroy and the team
DEBATING
The senior Debating team, Daire Healy, Will Fleming, Cormac Gleeson and Ethan Fitzpatrick took on St. Joseph's of Cluny, Killiney in the Concern Debates this week. The motion being debated was "President Obama is good for Africa". Pres were debating in favour of the motion and the result was a draw.
The 5th year team were involved in the Wicklow County Council Debating competition semi-finals against Colaiste Chonglais from Baltinglass. Their motion was "The Irish Tourism Industry has little interest in sustaining the Environmentit Exploits" Pres were in favour of the motion but unfortunately were narrowly beaten. The team on the day: Karl O'brien, Jack Farrell, and Conor Keogh.
BASKETBALL
The U19 team face St. Malachy's of Belfast next Thursday, 9th February in the All Ireland Cup final. Throw in is at 12.30 in the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght. Best of luck to all the team and their coaches.
