Pupils catch up on their reading for World Book Day

WORLD BOOK DAY saw primary and secondary school pupils catching up on their reading while others attended classes dressed as their favourite story-book characters.
Schools such as the Abbey Community College, Holy Rosary, Bethlehem, St. Joseph's and Wicklow Educate Together were all involved in Thursday's dedication to books.
The likes of Street Bridge Books in Wicklow town was visited by the eager pupils keen to buy a book using World Book Day vouchers, which were worth €1.50 off the book.
The Abbey Community College organised a 'Drop Everything and Read' initiative, whereby boxes of books from the library were left in classrooms throughout the school. At a set time, all classes stopped what they were doing and the students were allowed to read a book from the designated boxes. This initiative was designed to develop a student's interest in books and reading.
