RATHNEW GAA had a unique treble to celebrate at the club dinner dance held in the Arklow Bay Hotel. Last season the club helped itself to the Senior Championship, the Junior C Championship and the one off tournament to celebrate 125 years of the GAA.

Close to 250 guests enjoyed the spread laid out by the Arklow Bay Hotel on Friday night, including County Chairman Andy O'Brien, Development Officer Victor O'Shaughnessy and County PRO Pat Mitchell.

The squad of players who managed to secure the 2009 senior championship were awarded their medals, while also receiving their reward for beating Baltinglass in the 125 year celeb ration tournament. Trevor Doyle in particular will go down in local folklore for his performance in that final. The selector came off the bench to score three goals in three minutes. It was also a successful year for the junior players who were the C Championship winners.

The managers of both the senior and junior squad also received a special presentation.

Stephen Canavan won the senior player of the year and Mark Doyle the Junior C player of the year. The Junior A team player of the year was Stewart Murphy.

James Stafford was also acknowledged on the night having won the County Player of the Year award a couple of weeks ago.
