THE CLASS OF 2009 at Colaiste Bhríde's, Carnew, reunited recently for the annual Leaving Cert and Awards presentation evening in the exquisite surroundings of Mount Wolseley, Tullow.

The annual event is always a special occasion in the school's calendar and is an opportunity for past students to reunite as a group for what will probably be the last time.

The guest of honour this year was Martin Phillips, Education Officer with Co. Wicklow VEC. He offered the past pupils sound advice as they set out on their paths in life.

Dorcas Rothwell, Chairperson of the Parents' Association, emphasised the importance of partnership in education and commented on its successful impact in the school.

Principal Linda Dunne also addressed the group, and spoke about the importance of further education, particularly in today's economic conditions. She complimented the group on their many and varied achievements while at the school.

Áine Dagge claimed the coveted 'Student of the Year' award for obtaining the highest results in last June's exams while Conor Byrne was named LCA Student of the Year 2009.

Shauna Hilley was presented with the Sports Award for her outstanding contribution to sport during her six years at Coláiste Bhríde.

A spokesperson for the school said that an enjoyable evening was experienced by all and congratulations were sent to Coláiste Bhríde Parents Association, under the chairmanship of Dorcas Rothwell, for their impeccable planning and organisation of such a wonderful event. The best wishes of everyone at the school went to all students of the Class of 2009 for their future studies and employment.
