Contaminated water leaves bad taste in mouth
THOUSANDS of householders in Wicklow, Rathnew, Ashford and parts of Glenealy were left with a bad taste in their mouths after a fuel-like substance' leaked into a river which feeds into the local supply.
The matter is under investigation by Wicklow County Council who say that the source of contamination may have been a leak from a diesel tank into the Vartry River which feeds the local water supply.
The matter first came to light last Wednesday when calls from concerned householders in the area flooded into the council.
The water was tested by the Health Service Executive who said that the concentration of fuel in the water was not harmful to public health despite the peculiar taste.
