Driver fined €250 for not having insurance
A BARNDARRIG man escaped without a driving ban when he appeared before Judge Murrough Connellan at last week's sitting of Wicklow District Court.
Andrew Byrne (18), 8 Ard Rua, Barndarrig, Wicklow was charged with driving without insurance, failing to produce a driving licence and failing to produce insurance at New Street, Wicklow on August 3, 2009.
Byrne's mother, Ann, told the court that there is an open insurance policy on their car and she believed this would cover her son.
Solicitor David Tarrant said Byrne didn't have a licence as he had dyslexia and had failed the driver theory test a number of times.
Judge Connellan fined Byrne €250 for driving without insurance but declined to ban him. He applied the probation act in respect of failing to produce a driving licence and took the other matter proven and taken into account.
