THE CLOSE FRIENDS of the late Francis (Fran) McSherry are in mourning following Fran's death on February 18. Fran, a native of Dundrum has lived in Arklow for the past 20 years and had become very much a part of the community making great friends.
Fran (55) lived in Ashview Cottage, Ballinclea, and moved to Arklow to enjoy a county way of life. He loved gardening and was very content to spend time in his garden during the fine weather and he was very proud of the work he did there.
Although a city boy he loved the country way of life and kept a number of hens at Ashview Cottage. He had a great affinity with nature and had a keen interest in wildlife.
A great character Fran was a very loyal friend and his close friends recall him as a man who would do anything for his friends, nothing was too much trouble. He was a man you could rely on in times of hassle.
A keen lover of music Fran enjoyed nothing better than spending time with his friends listening to music whether it was modern pop music or classic hits from decades past. Fran had a great sense of humour and loved to have a joke with his friends. Decent and generous Fran died in St. Vincent's Hospital, Dublin on February 18 after a short illness. Requiem Mass took place in the Church of the Holy Cross, Dundrum followed by burial in Kilmashogue Cemetery. He is survived by his friends in Arklow, Steff Lennon, Niall Broughan, Robbie Carr and Nick Costello.
