Houses' secrets explored on Manchan's TG4 series

Wednesday February 01 2012

THE REAL STORIES hidden within the walls of two celebrated Wicklow buildings will feature as part of a new TG4 series exploring the history of some of Ireland's most fascinating houses.

Veteran traveller and broadcaster, Manchán Magan, will be finding out exactly what sort of fascinating historical facts are lurking behind the four walls of actor and writer Eamon Morrissey's charming cottage in Aughavannagh and also Kilruddery House in Bray. Using the help of experts, Manchán will examine the existing architectural evidence.

Eamon Morrissey's cottage was built in the heart of Wicklow amongst ancient fairy forts over 200 years ago.

On Thursday on TG4 at 10 p.m. Manchán delves into the stories which have lent the cottage so much significance down through the decades.

Then on Thursday February 9, the series visits Kilruddery House after Lord and Lady Meath for the first time allowed a documentary television crew into their home to tell the fascinating story of their house and the family.
