AN ARKLOW MAN was bound to the peace by Arklow District Court.
Jonathan Taylor (27), 104 The Avenue, Meadow Vale, Arklow was charged with being intoxicated in a public place and engaging in threatening, abusive and insulting behaviour at Arklow Garda Station on July 13, 2009.
He pleaded guilty to the charge and Garda Edward Hickey said while on duty in Arklow Garda Station Taylor arrived in looking to speak to another guard in relation to another matter. After a few minutes Garda Hickey heard shouting in the public office and when he entered the public area Taylor who was highly intoxicated directed swear words at him.
Acting for Taylor solicitor Pauric Hyland said Taylor 'accepts entirely his behaviour is considerably unacceptable'.
He was assisting the gardaí in relation to another matter and wrongly believed something was said about his infant child but he realises now it wasn't. It is out of character for him and he simply lost it over what he believed had been mentioned. He accepts he shouldn't have been abusive to gardaí,' said Mr. Hyland.
The court heard Taylor had a previous conviction. Mr. Hyland said Taylor had one child and was unemployed at present. He is currently living with his mother and wanted to ' unreservedly apologise for his behaviour'. 'This is the second time this morning we have someone calling to the garda station,' said Judge Murrough Connellan binding Taylor to the peace for one year in his own bond of € 250.
