PARENTS ARE BEING advised to remain vigilant after a suspicious approach was made to a child in Wicklow town on Tuesday afternoon (February 14).

The young boy was walking by himself near Wicklow Heights when he was approached by a man driving a black jeep just after 3 p.m.. After a short conversation the man asked the child if he wanted a lift home, resulting in the boy running off.

The child told the Gardai that he believed the black jeep had an 08 or 06 registration. He was also unsure if a female companion was accompanying the driver of the vehicle or not.

There weren't any other reports of suspicious approaches to children but local Gardai are warning parents to remain vigilant and report any suspect incidents to Wicklow Garda Station at (0404) 60140.
