COLÁISTE CHILL MHANTÁIN has signed up a team to participate in the F1 Schools Technology Challenge and Tesco in Wicklow has agreed to sponsor their efforts.
Members of the team include David Collard, Cian Dowd, Paul Newell, Austin Kane and Mark Treacy.
They are required to design an aerodynamic model F1 car and race it against other participating schools in the regional finals taking place in March.
This is the fifth year the competition has been running under the guidance of the Irish Cancer Society.
To get through to the regional finals the team had to write a 5 page plan outlining how they will go about designing a car, while also providing details on their proposed research, budgets and marketing plan.
