Bray and Balto must meet again
BRAY EMMETS and Baltinglass dropped a spanner in Mick Hagan's well planned fixtures programme when they played the only draw in the quarter-finals of the Senior football championship at Aughrim on Sunday. This was a game played with real championship fervour and passion by teams regarded as serious contenders for a last four place and both had their chances of stealing a late victory in the closing five minutes.
Long Kick
THE PRESIDENT of the GAA Christy Cooney will be in Old Conna, Bray on Saturday Septemebr 11 for the 11th MBNA Kick Fada at which he will also officially open Bray Emmets new facilities -a clubhouse, and four pitches including a state of the art astroturf and lights with an enclosed arena. The President's visit also coincides with the club's 125th anniversary celebrations as a member of the GAA and a special Cut Fada is being introduced to mark the gala occasion.
Blessington are much too strong for Stratford-Grangecon
THE LAST of the four matches in the quarter-finals of the Coogan Hardware Senior football championship was played in Aughrim on Sunday afternoon between neighbours Blessington and Stratford-Grangecon.

Micko needs more time to make mind up
THE SAGA over whether Mick O'Dwyer stays on as manager of Wicklow's county team or moves to another county continues. At a meeting of the County Committee on Monday night, Wicklow acceded to a request from the Kerry maestro that he be given another ten days in which to make a decision about his future. It had been expected in the press as well as throughout the county that Micko would be reappointed as manager of Wicklow's county team for a fifth consecutive year at Monday's meeting in Aughrim.
Hollywood star
HOLLYWOOD'S SECOND team made a good start in the Junior B championship with a good win over neighbours Dunlavin. For once league form carried over to the championship. Hollywood, who finished in second place behind Baltinglass in the Division 4 West table proved too strong for Dunlavin who finished in mid-table in the league.

THIS WAS a David and Goliath battle in the Intermediate football championship but it did not have a biblical ending.

ARKLOW GERALDINES-Ballymoney are the first of the eight Keating Trophy teams to move clear of the dreaded relegation zone as a result of their near double scores win over Carnew at Annacurra on Thursday night.

BALTINGLASS GOT their second win in the Junior A championship on Saturday, beating Enniskerry at Blessington by the slenderest of margins.
