THE KIltegan GAA Club and the Camogie Club combined to run their Dinner Dance in Germain's Inis Fail Hotel in Baltinglass on Saturday night.

A year ago at the same event the top table creaked under the weight of the silverware.

However, no-one appeared to notice the difference and all got on with the job of letting the hair down and enjoying the night.

Guests of honour included Co Chairman Andy O'Brien and his wife Ann; Bord no nOg Chairman Damien Byrne and his wife Ann, President Peter Keogh; Fr Joe Brophy, CC, Danny Byrne, Club President and his wife Mary, President of the Camogie Club; Simon Murphy, Chairman of the Camogie Club and his wife Rosario; Dave Murray, Chairman of the Co Camogie Board and his wife Mary.

In his maiden speech the new Chairman Pat Keogh thanked his officer board for their support and paid tribute to the outgoing Chairman Mick Cearney. He had special praise for his Secretary Collie Doyle and Treasurer Michael Lennon.

He welcomed Michael ' Flash' Byrne as the new manager of the senior football team and promised him the full support of the committee.

He also welcomed the new hurling management but said there were some loose ends to be tightened up.

He had a special thanks for the outgoing manager Gavin Wynne who had worked so hard over the past two years and did such great work for the club.

The hurling management, Ned Cremin, Seán Keogh and Peter Byrne, were also mentioned.

County Chairman Andy led the guest speakers. After the formalities he thanked the club for their support for the County Board.. 'Your club support over the past year was what we had come to expect from Kiltegan. You have John Timmins and Damien Byrne actively involved in management, County President Peter Keogh and County Selector Michael O'Toole

'2009 was a great year for our county and Kiltegan were very much part of it. You supply players to our county teams at all level in football, hurling and camogie.

You have a big day coming up on Monday when the BBC is due to visit your club. When I was contacted and asked to recommend a suitable club to reflect the true image of the GAA in a rural setting I had no hesitation in selecting Kiltegan.

This is a great chance for us as a county and you as a club to reflect all that is positive about the GAA to a world audience.'

Other speakers on the on the night included the Chairman of the Camogie Club Simon Murphy and Dave Murray who doubles as the Chairman of the Michael Dwyer's Club and the Co Camogie Board
