Stephen Kelly intermediate football
STEPHEN KELLY is affectionately and better known as Chester.
He is one of that rare and special breed of GAA sportsmen - a dual player who is equally skilful and talented at football and hurling.
Chester has been indispensable as a defender to Eire Og Greystones and the county footballers and hurlers in 2011 and he has played a pivotal role in their successes last year.
The county's hurlers won the 3A league and reached the final of the Christy Ring Cup before being beaten by Kerry, but he is receiving his awards for his immense contribution to Eire Og's footballers winning not just the county intermediate football title but also the Leinster title.
He is the anchor man of the Eire Og defence as centre-back and has been one of Mick O'dwyer's key defenders on the county team over the last few years. And he continues to be so.
Indeed he is being presented with his award on the night before Eire Og Greystones head to Tullamore next Sunday to take on Davitts from Mayo in the All-ireland Club intermediate football semi-final.
And he has been further honoured by being one of three Wicklow hurlers selected on the Christy Ring fifteen which is a tribute to his magnificent performances for Wicklow's hurlers not just in that competition but throughout the year.
Stephen Kelly comes from a great GAA and sporting family; his brother James is also a prominent member and defender on Eire Og's football and hurling teams, while his sister Naoimh is a member of Wicklow's ladies footballers who won the All-ireland junior championship title in 2011.
He is a cousin of Simon Lambert who is on the Dublin county senior hurling team.
