The annual Juvenile 'Jim Murphy' open competition was held on Monday, August 10. The overall winner was Mark Prout (23) with 50 points, 2nd was Emma Byrne of Baltinglass Golf Club (31) with 45 points, 3rd was Liam Becon (12) with 44 points winning on the back 9, the best gross was Joseph Neiland of Blainroe Golf Club (31) with 34 points winning on the back 9, 4th was David Cullen (20) with 44 points, 5th was Darren Furlong of Arklow Golf Club (24) with 43 points, 6th was Harry Flood of Woodenbridge Golf Club (17) with 42 points winning on the back 9. The class winners were; Under14, 1st Sean Coffey of Royal Dublin Golf Club (20) 37 points on the back 9, 2nd Darren Flaherty (12) 37 on the back 9 and 3rd was Jamie Dunne of Borris Golf Club (10) with 37 points.
The winner of the Under 17 class was Adam Quinn (16) with 42 points, 2nd was Jack McKenna (18) with 41 points on the back 9, 3rd was Mark Bain (17) with 41 points. The winner of the Under 20 class was Cian O'Connor of Hollywood Lakes Golf Club (11) with 38 points, 2nd was Conor Sexton (24) with 37 points on the back 9, 3rd was Stuart Porter (19) with 37 points. The winner of the girls section was Ghislaine Murphy (22) with 40 points, 2nd was Megan McEnery (34) with 35 points, 3rd was Rachel Griffey (36) with 28 points. The winning team was Wicklow with 127 points. The winner of the Wicklow Golf Club Section was Shaun Cummiskey (36) with 42 points, 2nd was Andrew Hanlon (26) with 41 points on the back 9, 3rd was Daniel Higgins (24) with 41 points and 4th was Stephen Shortall (36) with 40 points.
The following are the results from the recent competition in the Men's section of Wicklow Golf Club; the winner of the Men's 18-hole singles v-par competition held on August 15th was Robert Jacob (9) with a score of +7, 2nd was Sean O'Brien (12) with +6, 3rd was Colm J Andrews (21) with +5. The best gross score was Kevin Monaghan (6) with a score of level, 4th was Kevin O'Mahony (11) with +5 and 5th was Ray Wheatley (11) with +5. The winner of the Lady Presidents, Theresa Porter, Prize to the Men held on Thursday August 19th was Jared Carthy (14) with 42 points, 2nd was Kieran Stapleton (12) with 39 points, 3rd was Gregory Garland (16) with 37 points, the best gross score was Colin Woodroofe (5) with 31 points, 4th was Simon Wheatly (10) with 36 points and 5th was Ross O'Flaherty (11) 35 points. The Bridge Hotel Golf Society competition last week, kindly sponsored by Glynn Davenport, played at Blackwater Golf Club, resulted in a win for Billy O'Brien with 50 nett. Gross prize Anthony Doyle, Class 1, Harry Kavanagh 54 nett; Class 2 John Gilbert 51nett; Nearest The Pin - Glynn Davenport, 9ft; Front Nine - Fintan Nugent, 22 nett; Back Nine, Paul Doyle 27 nett. The Society members would like to thank Glynn for the lovely prizes on the day.

Both second and third prizes went to Tinahely men. In second place were James Harte (13) and Niall O'Dare (11) with a score of 46 points. Paul Tyrell (16) annd Maurice Hedderman (13) finished third with a score of 45 points. Two local junior members Robert Masterson (5) and Martin O'Neill won the gross with a magnificent seven under par , 43 points. Carlow members J.J. Lambert (14) and Charles Byrne (15) won the visitors prize with a score of 41 points.
