ARKLOW GERS BALLYMONEY

At last the evenings are getting longer and we're all looking forward to getting back outside and shaking off the winter blues with some fun and exercise, yes the GAA seasons is upon us already. The calendar is filling up nicely, with training, games, division matches, social nights and lots of fun.

We recently held two registration days, with strong numbers attending on both days, but if for some reason you couldn't attend please feel free to come to training and we'll look after you there, our saying is "everyone welcome".

On Friday the Football Academy we're delighted to see so many of last season's U-6 and U-8 boys and girls reregistering, man they've gotten so big, we also had lots of their friends joining our club. Training for our Academy will start over the next few weeks.

On Sunday the rest of our juveniles registered and of course our Adult members caught up on the latest GAA news over a cuppa and discussed the year ahead. Again there was a great turn out on the day and the club is looking forward to another successful and enjoyable season of football. Many thanks to all those who helped organise the days and to those who assisted.

Our under-14 boys have been back on the training pitch for the last two weeks now there's enthusiasm, eager to get their season under way. Earlier in the week the boys and their parents met the coaches to discuss the year ahead, with the County Feile in April being their immediate focus. There is a lot of commitment required to represent your club at such a high level and as Martin, Paul and Brian know from past experience that they can rely on these boys to put in the training and to dedicate themselves to their team's success. The boys are primarily concentrating on improving their fitness and skills levels training on both Tuesday and Friday evenings. If a player is unable to attend both nights please notify the coaches, with such a high prize at stake it is necessary to maintain standards. The support of the parents should never be overlooked as without them it would be extremely difficult if not impossible to be prepared and organised for such an event and for that we say thank you. One thing for sure though, is that this group will enjoy the season ahead as a team, players, coaches and parents alike.

There was a very informative Code of Ethics evening presented by Girls child Officer Geraldine Galvin last Wednesday. Cummann na mBan National Children's Officer Paula Prunty also spoke on the night and the club would like to thank both Paula and Geraldine for bringing us up to date on what Code of ethics means for the club and its members, and where we stand on its implementation within our club. AGB is about playing and enjoying football in a fun save and equal environment, so get those boots on and let the games begin.
