THIS WEEKEND saw Bray Wheelers out in force for the beginning of the racing season with a sizeable show in both Saturday's and Sunday's races. The crisp spring weather must've put a spring in the legs on Saturday as everybody finished comfortably in their respective bunches. Particular acknowledgement must go to Alex Boland who competed in his first open race in the Mick Lally Memorial race on Saturday, and to Will McCabe who's made a return to road racing after his junior cycling days in the 90s! Pat Fitzpatrick, Anthony Crean, Scott Hannon, Dermot Hickey and Darren O'Toole all completed their first race of the 2010 season with ease. Sunday's race in Navan brought another clear, crisp day. There was only one Bray Wheeler in the A1/A2 category, Ronan Kearney, who described the race as 'fast with a few tough efforts as a couple of breaks were chased down.' He finished comfortably in the bunch, very happy with his form. Ger Ivory, Brian Harris, Jason Howick and Cailan Murphy (first open race as a junior) competed in the A3/A4 category. Well done to all the lads. For further information about all Bray Wheelers activities go to www.braywheelers.com
