Great win for Arklow ladies tennis team
Irene Ryder, Kay Hickey, Caroline Kavanagh, Martina Behan, Helen Fox, Jacintha Kinch of Arklow Tennis Club who defeated Mount Pleasant in their Division 7 game.
THE ARKLOW Ladies Team earned their place in the Dublin Winter League Semi-Finals in Division 7 with a 2-0 win on Sunday away to Mount Pleasant in Ranalagh.
\Jacintha Kinch and Helen Fox wrapped up their match 6-1, 6-2, in double quick time and victory was secured by Caroline Kavanagh and Martina Behan who won a tough match 6-3, 6-4. Number One Ladies pair, Kay Hickey and Irene Ryder were ahead 7-5, 3-2 when the match was declared and the Arklow Ladies retired to Mount Pleasant's beautiful Clubhouse for tea with their gracious hosts.
The semi-final will be played at Arklow's home venue, Charlesland Sports and Recreation Centre, in Greystones, next Sunday at 2pm.
Meanwhile back at the Arklow club on Coolgreaney Road, junior coaching with new Director of Junior Tennis , David Sheehan, will take place every Saturday, 10-12am, and senior coaching with Pablo Plaza each Monday night at 7pm, details at www.altc.ie<http://www.altc.ie/ > . The Spring Team League also continues with Team B (Mervyn Burns, Damien Whelan, Helen Fox, Seamus Hickey, Conor Cleary and Joe Nazari) leading the way on 20 points with three of the five group matches completed.
