THE LEINSTER Senior League team had a great win over Wayside Celtic in the second round of the Lanigan Cup last Saturday at the white-gates. A brace of goals fron David O'Sullivan earned them an extra time win to progress to the third round.
Recently Luke Byrne was credited with the goal that won the game for the first team away to Newtown Rangers when in fact it was Stephen Earls so to set the record straight it was Stephen who scored the only goal of the game, well done Stephen.
Our Wicklow League division one side had an excellent win at home to odds on title favourites Enniskerry YC at the white gates on Sunday. A brace from Dave Rowan and singles from Aidan O'Neill and Conor Tobin gave them an impressive 4-2 victory.
A couple of weeks ago we had one hat-trick hero in the club. That honour fell to Keith Carty who hit three cracking goals for the under 8A's against Ardmore. Well done Keith. The week before last we had two hat-trick scorers, Aidan Long [8C's] and Conor Tobin [WL Div 1] hit hat-tricks. Well done to both.. This week we had one hattrick scorer, Gavin Weir, who hit three for the under 15B team at home to Arklow Utd A.

Everyone at Wicklow Rovers would like to congratulate Pat [Sting] Kavanagh on his nomination to be Grand Marshall for this years St Patricks Day parade. It's an honour well deserved by one of the all time greats to grace the soccer fields of Wicklow and beyond. Sting has won every major honour in the county, he also has an All Ireland medal to his name when he was part of the Oscar Traynor team that defeated Galway back in 1986. Once again Sting congratulations.
John, Brendan, the under 13 B team and all at Wicklow Rovers would like to wish Matt Doyle a speedy recovery from injury. hope to see you back between the posts soon. Also Jimmy, Brian, the under 12 B team and all at the club would like to wish Liam Kavanagh a speedy recovery from injury. Hope you are back in action soon.
Congratulations to Conor Lincoln who lined out for the under 12 county team away to the Carlow League last week, the match was a good advert for schoolboy/girl soccer and after a very exciting game the spoils were shared in a 3-3 draw.
Congratulations to Hughie Nolan [Newtown Juniors] on his award of youth manager of the year at the recent National Awards to Volunteers in Irish Sport. Well done Hughie.
